(Photo credit:<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalconstructionreview.com\/defying-gravity-in-the-maldives\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&nbsp;Global Construction Review<\/a><em>).<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We quickly moved away from traditional timber contracting and began investing heavily in CLT and glulam, investing heavily in prefabrication and modularisation to get more productivity out of our manpower,&#8221; Mr Hill said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Now (as of 2020), our target is set on India.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although Venturer Timberwork sees little scope for entering the multi-storey housing market, it has an established office in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/woodcentral.com.au\/adapting-to-rising-sea-levels-the-case-for-floating-timber-homes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">In May<\/a>, Wood Central&#8217;s Southeast Asia Contributor Ken Hickson reported that the company is behind the ambitious &#8220;V2 Building Concept.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based in Chennai, India, &#8220;V2&#8221; is a componentised building system aiming to create lightweight structures using locally grown plantation hardwood timbers, engineered together in a process akin to Cross Laminated Timber (CLT).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not only are the timbers sustainably sourced and have low embodied carbon, but they must meet industry standards and maximise efficiency in production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"446\" src=\"https:\/\/woodcentral.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-4-696x446.png.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10359\" srcset=\"https:\/\/woodcentral.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-4-696x446.png.webp 696w, https:\/\/woodcentral.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-4-696x446.png-600x384.webp 600w, https:\/\/woodcentral.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-4-696x446.png-300x192.webp 300w, https:\/\/woodcentral.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-4-696x446.png-655x420.webp 655w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Kevin Hill, founder of Venturer Timberwork, is leading the charge in developing sustainable housing solutions to combat rising sea levels.
