This election will be on local electorate issues, cost-of-living living pressures, affordable housing and what is the best for each individual voter. Currently there are about 16% of voters who still have not made up their mind. There is no ground swell of resentment or one big issue, except the Liberal and National Party Coalition has been in government for 12 years and appears tired.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-au\/news\/other\/young-nsw-voters-rank-affordable-housing-environment-and-gambling-as-key-election-issues\/ar-AA18RGTJ\">Another factor is the change in demographics<\/a>.&nbsp;Gen Z (aged 10 to 24) and Millennials (aged 25 to 39) now outnumber the post-war baby boomers. Under-40s are now in the majority, making up 51% of the state&#8217;s population \u2013 and that&nbsp;translates into more power at the ballot box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sydney metropolitan seats, all held by the NSW government, that appear to be in the change mix are <a href=\"https:\/\/elections.nsw.gov.au\/District-profiles\/oatley\">Oatley<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/elections.nsw.gov.au\/District-profiles\/riverstone\">Riverstone<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/elections.nsw.gov.au\/elections\/find-my-electorate\/districts\/east-hills\">East Hills<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/elections.nsw.gov.au\/elections\/find-my-electorate\/districts\/parramatta\">Parramatta<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Country Liberal seats that are in play are <a href=\"https:\/\/elections.nsw.gov.au\/elections\/find-my-electorate\/districts\/goulburn\">Goulburn<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/elections.nsw.gov.au\/elections\/find-my-electorate\/districts\/tweed\">Tweed <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/elections.nsw.gov.au\/elections\/find-my-electorate\/districts\/port-macquarie\">Port Macquarie<\/a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>National Party seats in the contest are <a href=\"https:\/\/elections.nsw.gov.au\/elections\/find-my-electorate\/districts\/monaro\">Monaro<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/elections.nsw.gov.au\/elections\/find-my-electorate\/districts\/upper-hunter\">Upper Hunter<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/elections.nsw.gov.au\/elections\/find-my-electorate\/districts\/myall-lakes\">Myall Lakes <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/elections.nsw.gov.au\/elections\/find-my-electorate\/districts\/dubbo\">Dubbo<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Independent seats are <a href=\"https:\/\/elections.nsw.gov.au\/elections\/find-my-electorate\/districts\/kiama\">Kiama <\/a>(government supporter), <a href=\"https:\/\/elections.nsw.gov.au\/elections\/find-my-electorate\/districts\/barwon\">Barwon <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/elections.nsw.gov.au\/elections\/find-my-electorate\/districts\/murray\">Murray<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Independents taking on sitting Liberals in their heartland are running in <a href=\"https:\/\/elections.nsw.gov.au\/elections\/find-my-electorate\/districts\/lane-cove\">Lane Cove<\/a>, (in trouble) <a href=\"https:\/\/elections.nsw.gov.au\/elections\/find-my-electorate\/districts\/willoughby\">Willoughby<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/elections.nsw.gov.au\/elections\/find-my-electorate\/districts\/north-shore\">North Shore<\/a>, (both on low margins with well-resourced Teal workers) <a href=\"https:\/\/elections.nsw.gov.au\/elections\/find-my-electorate\/districts\/manly\">Manly <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/elections.nsw.gov.au\/elections\/find-my-electorate\/districts\/wakehurst\">Wakehurst <\/a>which has a very strong local mayor taking on an unknown Liberal candidate.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All these seats are vulnerable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sky News ran a story on March 21 that the seat of <a href=\"https:\/\/elections.nsw.gov.au\/elections\/find-my-electorate\/districts\/hornsby\">Hornsby <\/a>has a 16% swing against the government. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sitting member is Matt Kean, the NSW State Treasurer, who holds the seat on a 16.9% margin. The polling shows voters are moving to One Nation and the Liberal Democrats. But the Green vote has halved. This appears like a local issue is involved and it might be the locals making judgement on the member himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ALP \u2018WranSlide\u2019 of 1981 saw Premier Neville Wran pick up a six-seat swing winning 69.7% of the chamber \u2013 69 out of 99 seats.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Monday,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theage.com.au\/politics\/nsw\/nsw-votes-live-dominic-perrottet-narrows-contest-with-chris-minns-labor-tipped-to-return-to-power-20230320-p5cthi.html\"> The Sydney Morning Herald<\/a> reported a Labor return to power. But polling has been consistent with Premier Dominic Perrottet as the preferred Premier over Chris Minns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most commentators have predicted an ALP minority government. One of the national mastheads on March 21 ran a story playing down the ALP win because of a poorly-run campaign. Lots of glitzy announcements and press coverage but not much else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On March 20, the Parliamentary Budget Office\u00a0released the budget impact statements, which costed each of the major parties\u2019 key election commitments. The PBO found ALP policies would improve the net operating budget for the next four years by $1.4 billion, compared to a $97.2 million improvement under the Coalition. A difference.
