Footage courtesy of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@SkyNewsAustralia\">@SjyNewsAustralia<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Priority areas include renewables and low emissions technologies &#8211; including low-carbon forestry &#8211; providing a major opportunity for the Australian forest products industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.industry.gov.au\/news\/national-reconstruction-fund-diversifying-and-transforming-australias-industry-and-economy\">The fund includes $500m for value-adding in a series of industries including forestry.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe also thank Tasmanian senators Jacqui Lambie and Tammy Tyrrell for their efforts to support native forestry during negotiations on the legislation,\u201d AFPA CEO Joel Fitzgibbon said in an AFPA media release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Greens amendments removing sustainable native forest harvesting eligibility under the NRF legislation was a stunt with no practical effect. But with JLN support we were able to secure comfort on the value-adding front,\u201d Mr Fitzgibbon said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI also thank Coalition MPs and senators for their ongoing support for our sector.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Fitzgibbon,<a href=\"https:\/\/woodcentral.com.au\/our-whole-value-chain-is-critical-to-australias-economic-independence\/\"> who in January 2023 wrote an exclusive opinion piece for Wood Central<\/a>, said Australia\u2019s sustainable native forest industries should be recognised as a beacon, operating to world class environmental standards while producing essential products that we cannot live without.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/woodcentral.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/zr7wluqxxtl51-1024x753.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3819\" width=\"574\" height=\"422\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Planting more trees is crucial, <a href=\"https:\/\/campaignbrief.com\/the-afpa-launches-new-australia-we-need-a-tree-change-campaign-via-galore\/\">in recent years the Australian Forest Products Association<\/a> has led the push to plant more trees through it&#8217;s &#8220;We need a tree change&#8221; campaign.
