Newbury Steps Down from FWPA and WoodSolutions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In the world of marketing and public relations, specifically the promotion of wood and the people who work with it, few names carry the gravitas of Eileen Newbury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since I first met Eileen when she was owner and managing director of Leading Edge&nbsp;Events International Pty Ltd,&nbsp;working under contract to Forest and Wood Products Australia,&nbsp;&nbsp;I have admired her power to communicate in a way that raises&nbsp;questions, changes hearts and makes a positive difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She was appointed full time to FWPA in 2013 by then managing director Ric Sinclair.\u00a0So, when Eileen announced last week she was leaving<a href=\"http:\/\/fwpa.com.au\"> <\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fwpa.com.au\">FWPA <\/a>as head of marketing and communications and head of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.woodsolutions.com.au\">the WoodSolutions program,<\/a> at the peak of her career, a call to her in Melbourne allayed any fears she was \u2018leaving us\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-embed-handler wp-block-embed-embed-handler wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"sXq-F7CK5A8\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"WoodSolutions - Major Sponsor of The Property Congress 2022\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/sXq-F7CK5A8?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Eileen Newbury at the 2022 Property Congress, the Property Council&#8217;s premier event. Among them product launches, award nights, major festivals, television, and sports charity events including for racing, golf and cricket, in particular the&nbsp;Australian Masters Golf Tournament and the Bicentennial Golf Classic. The list goes on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNow let me sit back, release some steam, be a \u2018beach bum\u2019 if I want to, or whatever, and see where I go in three months\u2019 time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She is a graduate and alumni of the prestigious Leadership <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leadershipvictoria.org\/program\/williamson-leadership-program\/\">Victoria Williamsons Program<\/a>, a relationship that continues through mentoring of participants and participating on the selection committee for new candidates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A message from Sarah Downey, senior marketing and communications manager at FWPA: \u201cEileen has been a powerhouse in the organisation and along with her team has overseen several important initiatives that have helped reframe the industry and how it is perceived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSince joining FWPA full-time in 2013, Eileen\u2019s achievements have been an important part of FWPA\u2019s success.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FWPA\u2019s CEO Andrew Leighton added: \u201cEileen has an energy and a passion for FWPA and for the industry that was felt by all and will be greatly missed. Data and research have always underpinned her marketing and education of the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs the head of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.woodsolutions.com.au\">WoodSolutions<\/a> program, Eileen was integral in lifting the recognition of wood and wood products in the design and build industry.
